I'd have more friends if I weren't so whiny

The thing I miss most about school is having a best girl friend.  Guys are lots of fun to be friends with—they usually aren’t as easily embarrassed, they don’t listen all that well so they don’t always notice when you’re being weird, they don’t take themselves too seriously most of the time, and even if you don’t talk to them regularly, it’s easy to get right back into the friendship groove when you do catch up with each other.  But the downside of having guys as friends is that we don’t talk regularly, and sometimes they don’t listen all that well.

My best friend in college was also my roommate.  My best friend in high school hung out with me every day and we talked on the phone every night.  We always had time for each other, and we had too much fun to keep track of.  Like so many others, we fell out of touch after graduation, when we went our separate ways.

As I mentioned in a previous post, my very best friend is a guy.  A guy who lives far away and who has a jealous wife.  Two of my other friends are guys.  I love all of these guys, but damn…..I sure wish I had someone to gab with on a regular, frequent basis.

Part of the reason that I started this blog was to communicate.  So far it feels like I’m still writing in my diary, which is communication of a sort, I guess, but not quite what I was hoping for.  Is anyone out there reading this?  I know I’m not writing anything brilliant or hilarious, but maybe you could just post a comment to say “hiya chick—I read your stuff—it’s not too horrible for a total newbie.”
